Our Story
Glamorous Beginnings
It all started in a print shop. I wanted a job at 10 years old and my parents were willing to give me a job at their print shop - cleaning bathrooms. A very glamorous beginning for my work career. 🙂
Planting Seeds
As I grew older I helped my parents with print jobs at the print shop. Stapling books, collating pages together, and some jobs we even brought home to finish in order to meet a deadline. One time we collated a 60+ page book around the dining room table!
Seeds were planted at an early age when I saw how hard my parents worked to get the business going and get the print jobs done right. They showed me a strong work ethic by doing quality work to meet deadlines. One of our core values at Essential Web Strategies is Integrity Matters. I believe this value started when those seeds were planted back in the print shop days.
World Wide Web
Fast forward to the mid-90s when the internet was just starting to take off in the business world and websites were starting to pop up. I was intrigued by the internet and took a World Wide Web class at the local college. I was hooked. This started a 25-year journey in the web world. I never looked back. I took more classes and accepted roles where I could use and grow my knowledge. Learning HTML, CSS, User Interface Design, User Experience, Search Engine Optimization, Website Design, and on and on. The web was and is ever-changing, which keeps things interesting!
Working at a reputable software company, I helped hundreds of Chamber's of Commerce customers and Associations with their website strategy and design - what a fun ride! Working with people to get them where they needed to be on the web was priceless.
Other projects hit my plate - I pivoted to marketing to help form a new brand identity, was part of a product team to create a Content Management System, and later a new SEO service to benefit our customers.
And then it happened...
The Call
God gave me the message that I was to quit my full-time job and start a business. Woah! It took a good year to make sure I understood it right... but the messages kept coming and it became clear. In 2019, Essential Web Strategies LLC was formed. And by the way, the 'Essential' part of the name was not my doing - that was given to me by the big Guy before the word "essential" became a household word in 2020. He's in the details folks.
I am thrilled to be working with Him as my business partner, helping clients who need a new web presence, a refreshed web presence, or Organic Search Engine Optimization to be found by searchers on the web. To give Him glory through the work I do is my main "Why". This makes my job that much more fulfilling.
Businesses and organizations that grow successfully because of their web presence is something I enjoy being a part of. And one thing is for sure - It's about the people!
